Yang Lu is the David Goldman Doctoral Studentship at Newcastle University Business School. Before enrolling at Newcastle in January 2016, she completed a Master's degree with distinction in International Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Essex with the support of the Vice-Chancellor's Academic Excellence Scholarship.

Yang Lu's research interest is in the areas of electronic business, especially the diffusion, acceptance, and user behaviour of technological innovation. Her doctoral study is theorized on the basis of information system acceptance and adoption theories, with extensions from the social and psychological aspects. Her current research emphasizes users' acceptance and behaviour of the general concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) and its antecedent, namely the Internet. Her future research aims to further understand social transformation brought by the development of technological paradigms.
