Ying Zhang is a Research Associate in Digital Transformation at Newcastle University Business School. She holds a PhD in Management and Business from the University of Surrey (UK), an MSc in Tourism Management from Xiamen University (China), and a Bachelor degree in Accounting from Northeast Normal University (China). She is also a qualified Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in China, an accreditation equivalent to the UK’s Association of Chartered Certified Accounts (ACCA). Ying’s research examines contemporary socio-technical challenges, focusing on the adoption of digital technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence across individual, organisational, industrial, and national levels. Her work addresses socially significant themes including trust building, privacy externalities, financial inclusion, and employee wellbeing in the context of digital transformation. She is currently contributing to a project on AI Safety.
