IEEE Socio-Technical Systems (STS) Technical Committee

Prof Savvas Papagiannidis has joined as the vice-chair the Socio-Technical Systems (STS) Technical Committee of the IEEE Society on the Social Implications of Technology. The committee is dedicated to nurturing an international and interdisciplinary community of practice focused on the operationalisation of socio-technical systems theory towards knowledge and value co-creation.

Areas of Interest:

  • Digital innovation and transformation including the responsible and ethical adoption and application of technology by organisations to transform business processes.
  • Socio-technical design incorporating various approaches such as participatory, human centred and co-design with the purpose of translating values and principles into system design requirements.
  • Information systems (IS) perspectives and approaches to addressing organisational and societal challenges.
  • Social implications and impacts of new and emerging technologies, exploring opportunities and challenges from a multi-stakeholder perspective.
  • Responsible Innovation Ecosystems encompassing a range of frameworks and approaches that support and advance responsible innovation.
  • Ethics and regulation as relating to socio-technical interactions and systems at the individual, organisational, industry and societal levels.
