The National Edge Artificial Intelligence Hub welcomed Rt Hon Lord Vallance, Minister of State at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, during a visit to Newcastle focused on the role of artificial intelligence research in driving national capability and economic impact.

The visit made it possible to present the Hub’s work on trustworthy AI and demonstrating how collaboration with academic, industrial, and public sector partners is translating research into practical real world applications. Discussions during the visit emphasised the importance of place based innovation ecosystems, capability building, and the contribution of the North East to the United Kingdom’s growing AI strategy.

The ministerial engagement reinforced the Hub’s position as a nationally significant centre for responsible AI development and highlighted the increasing importance of interdisciplinary research in shaping trustworthy technological futures.
