TheoryHub Hits launches music based learning resources for social science theory
The TheoryHub project has launched a new initiative titled TheoryHub Hits, combining academic theory with original music composition to support innovative approaches to teaching and learning. The project transforms established concepts from the social sciences and information systems into theory infused songs designed to make complex ideas more memorable, approachable, and enjoyable for students.
Drawing on dance and electronic music influences, the first release presents a collection of compositions inspired by major theoretical frameworks including Cognitive Dissonance Theory, Diffusion of Innovations, Socio Technical Theory, Task Technology Fit, Self Presentation Theory, and the Theory of Planned Behaviour. Each song is accompanied by karaoke style video material to further enhance accessibility and classroom use.
The initiative reflects a wider commitment to pedagogic experimentation and public engagement, demonstrating how creative media can open new pathways for communicating academic knowledge beyond traditional formats. The full playlist and associated TheoryHub resources are now available online.
