Webinar on energy efficient technology adoption and net zero housing
An online webinar taking place on 5 June will showcase findings from a large scale collaborative research project focused on energy efficient technology adoption and the pathway towards net zero housing.
Achieving net zero targets by 2050 depends heavily on improving energy efficiency across the United Kingdom’s diverse housing stock. This research explored both the technical performance and public perception of a range of innovative energy saving technologies implemented across different house types.
At the centre of the project was the NGN Futures Close Facility in Low Thornley, where nine fully instrumented demonstrator homes were constructed to reflect representative housing styles from 1910 to the present day. The site enabled detailed technical monitoring under controlled conditions.
Alongside engineering assessment, the later stages of the study investigated the social dimensions of technology adoption, including household engagement, barriers to uptake, and the influence of feedback on behavioural change.
The webinar will be of particular interest to researchers and practitioners working in housing, sustainability, energy systems, and social innovation, while also considering future opportunities for wider digital engagement.
