Celebrating enterprise

Proving that the North East is a hot bed of entrepreneurial talent, the third annual Enterprise Challenge Awards has once again brought together the business leaders of the future.
 
Held by the University of Newcastle upon Tyne's Enterprise Centre at St James' Park, Intellistab a consultancy offering a range of stability related products and consulting services to the marine industry was awarded the coveted Overall Business Viability Award as well as winning the Science and Technology Award.  
 
The Enterprise Centre works with students and graduates of the University to develop their skills to help make their business ideas a success as well as forging links with key members of the business community.
 
Commenting on the competition, Katie Perkin, information officer at the Enterprise Centre said: 
 
"The awards are a showcase for the work and ideas of our most enterprising students and graduates. The standard of entries has improved upon last year's already excellent standard. Many of them had more depth and more detail, demonstrating an innovative and creative flair for entrepreneurship which is a delight to see."

The Ebusiness award was won by Pink Cocktail, while in the same category there were four runners-up: E-cure, Magna Fever Online, Just Party and Areyougoinigmyway.com.

The awards received an impressive level of support from leading local businesses with sponsorship from some regional businesses including TEDCO, Deloitte, Fast Forward Now Ltd and Dickinson Dees Tyne & Wear Development Company, Young Enterprise, Nstar and PDA.
